Re: International Harvester 304 SVC Rebuild
Next step, ream the ridges and remove the pistons. Then we remove the freeze plugs and take everything to the machine shop. vlcsnap-2017-03-08-10h22m18s101.png vlcsnap-2017-03-08-10h22m43s077.png Here is a short video of the process. https://youtu.be/EJX2JuXrB8I Now we wait until the machine shop g...

Re: International Harvester 304 SVC Rebuild
Now we get the valve covers off and the valley pan. All looks good in the top end. It does look like we will need to do a valve job. They aren't real bad, but having gone this far, we will do it right. vlcsnap-2017-03-08-10h20m51s057.png vlcsnap-2017-03-08-10h21m06s219.png Now we get the oil pan ...

Re: International Harvester 304 SVC Rebuild
Now we finish tearing down the engine. It is all pretty straight forward. In these two pictures you can see the Intake manifold and the valley pan after the manifold is removed. There is a lifetime of grime buildup under the manifold. vlcsnap-2017-03-08-10h19m21s515.png vlcsnap-2017-03-08-10h20m0...

Re: International Harvester 304 SVC Rebuild
After stripping the top of the engine down (Carb, hoses, etc), it was time to do a leak down test. Normally you would do a compression test, but the engine was out of the vehicle and that didn't seem feasible, so I opted for the leak down test Even at that, the engine should be warm for a leak down...

International Harvester 304 SVC Rebuild
As part of my Resto-Mod build of my 72 Scout II, I need to refresh or rebuild the 304 V8 that came out of it.
Here is a shot of the motor before tear down.

Re: RustyBucket's International S-100 Build
Finally, here are some pictures of the completed project. I can't believe it has been 17 years since we finished her. When it warms up I will post some pictures of her so that you can see how the restoration has held up after that long. s100_finalb.jpg s100_finalc.jpg s100_finald.jpg s100_finale.jp...

Re: RustyBucket's International S-100 Build
Now on to the interior. I had a local upholsterer redo the seats, door panels and sun shades. They turned out great. We did not reuse the bottom springs on the seat, she just had me cut a plywood form and she made it out of foam from there. The headliner on these are just a piece of upholsterer'...

Re: RustyBucket's International S-100 Build
I will show you some completed engine compartment pics next. They turned out really well.< 1_02_10_06_5_14_37.jpg s100_finalh.jpg s100_finalj.jpg wpe93131.gif Also, for the first time bending tubing I think it turned out pretty good. I coated the tubing with a spray clear coat that has held up pret...

Re: RustyBucket's International S-100 Build
The next few pics I have here show the cab mounted back on the frame. I don't have any pics from the body shop, so all I can tell you about it, is that it was completely media blasted before being sprayed. It came out perfect. cabfdrivers.gif cabinterior.gif cabrear.gif Yes the Cambrian Corel look...

Re: RustyBucket's International S-100 Build
Some more pics of the completed frame. rearframe.gif passengine.gif middleframe.gif In these pics you can see the engine detail we did. The intake manifold had to have some welding done on it. Then we used some manifold coating from Eastwood on it and the exhaust manifold. The 16" rims were paint...
